About Gal Goffer
Documentary & Series Editor
I am a documentary and series editor focusing on character-driven stories, with a strong emphasis on politics, true crime, and socially complex narratives.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve worked on some of the most talked-about documentary series in Israel, collaborating closely with directors, producers, and broadcasters - from development to the final cut.
Areas of Expertise
- Long-form documentary series.
- Investigation-driven and true-crime storytelling.
- Narrative structure and pacing for series and films.
- Working with heavy archival and multi-timeline material.
Editing Approach
For me, the edit suite is where the film is truly written. Much of the story is shaped in the edit: what the viewer learns and when, how revelations unfold, and how we shift between intimate moments and the wider context.
I am used to handling complex archives, sensitive material, multiple timelines, and editorial requirements from broadcasters and global platforms.
Background & Experience
My work includes major documentary series, feature-length films, and television programs. Many of the projects deal with political, legal, and socially sensitive subjects requiring careful balance between clarity, fairness, and dramatic impact.
Over the years, I’ve collaborated with a range of directors and production companies, working under tight schedules while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
Collaboration & Workflow
I prefer to join projects early - at the stage of concepts, treatments, or initial research - and remain involved through rough cuts, broadcaster notes, and the final version. I value an open, direct dialogue in the edit suite with room to experiment, refine, and rethink.
Whether shaping an entire season arc, polishing a specific episode, or rescuing a cut that isn’t landing yet, I bring a calm, analytical, story-driven approach.
